Afro House is tribal drive that rolls. Rounded log-drum basses, leads that chant, pads like a sunrise, percussion in constant motion. And the bass does more here than hold down a foundation; it works as a melodic instrument, playing a…
The hoover's secret is the pitch sweep, the rave stab's secret is a sampled chord. Both builds, plus hard techno context.
Organic House is earthy, hypnotic music. Woody plucks, breathy leads with a flute-like quality, textures that live comfortably beside real percussion instead of fighting it. The whole game is making a synth that never announces itself as one. For reference:…
The pitch blip on the attack is the whole secret. Saw plus square, opening filters and midrange EQ for brass that cuts.
House and Techno as a single tag means crossover club tools: sounds with enough groove for a house set and enough muscle for a techno one. Solomun, &ME and Adam Ten operate in exactly that space, and a large chunk…
The string machine recipe: saw stacks, slow envelopes and ensemble chorus, plus the EQ move that makes them sit in a mix.
Melodic House and Techno is what happens when a huge room falls silent for thirty seconds. Ghostly leads, grooves built on sub weight, cinematic pads, and plenty of space left on purpose. The feeling is what pulls the track forward;…
Organs were synths all along. Sine stacks, a rotary fake and the key click that makes house organ basses bounce.
Progressive Techno is tension that never stops moving. Arps that evolve, deep rolling basses, pads that refuse to fully resolve. In a good progressive track nothing lands all at once; sounds shift so gradually you only register the change a…
Convincing plucked strings from a wavetable synth, plus the honest line where synthesis stops and sampled guitar wins.
Industrial Techno sounds like concrete and steel. Metallic textures, a low end pushed past its breaking point, sounds that feel manufactured rather than played. Melody matters less here than weight and friction do. Reference names: Perc, Ancient Methods, SNTS. Tempo…
Risers, sub drops, impacts and downlifters from one synth. Build an FX preset folder once and stop scrolling sample packs mid-session.
Peak Time Techno is what 1am sounds like: a relentless kick, a bass welded to the offbeat, a lead that arrives like a light switch getting flipped. This music exists for big rooms and loud PAs, which keeps the palette…
LFO on filter cutoff built a whole genre. The rates, shapes and retrigger settings that turn a beginner wobble into a usable one.
The sound palette makes or breaks Hard Techno. Pure industrial aggression: distorted basses parked right beside the kick, leads that scream like sirens, rave stabs. Loud everywhere, distortion everywhere, and the entire low end reserved for the kick. Designing Serum…
One oscillator and a screaming filter. How to build a 303-style acid bass in Serum 2, including the slides and accents everyone forgets.
Melodic Techno rises or falls on its sound palette — dark emotional power: cinematic pads, arpeggiated basslines, leads slicing through fog. Take techno’s tempo and drum weight, then bolt on harmony borrowed from somewhere far more romantic. That’s the genre.…
Two detuned saws, a mono sub and a moving filter. The full reese bass recipe with the exact detune numbers I use in our packs.
Techno is a sound-palette genre through and through. Warehouse pressure: kick and bass fused into one rumble, hypnotic stabs, leads with an acid edge. Melody barely exists and chords barely move. What keeps you listening is timbre, and whatever shifts…
Progressive House rises or falls on its sound palette — long-arc builds: shimmering arps, layered plucks, basses that keep evolving for thirty-two bars. Patience defines the genre. A sound that would bore you inside eight bars turns hypnotic when given…
