Is Serum 2 on sale for Black Friday 2026?
Probably not, going by history. Serum 2 came out in March 2025 with an intro price of $189, which ran until June 2025. After that it went to $249 and stayed there, including Black Friday 2025. Xfer has kept the same approach since the first Serum: one price, free updates for life, very few sales.

Four ways to pay less for Serum 2
- You own Serum 1: it’s free. Serum 2 is a free upgrade for every Serum 1 owner. Log in to your Xfer account and download it. Here’s what changed between Serum 1 and Serum 2.
- Rent-to-own on Splice. $9.99 a month for 25 months, no interest. You end up paying about the same as buying outright, but spread out, and you can pause.

- Spend on sounds, not the synth. If you already have Serum, Black Friday is the time to stock up on presets, because that’s where the discounts actually are.
What actually goes on sale for Black Friday
Every year the big discounts are on preset and sample packs, not on Serum itself. Expect 50–80% off preset bundles from most sound design brands, plus big plugin sales from the usual stores. Two tips before you buy:
- Check the format. Serum 2 opens Serum 1 presets (.fxp), so older packs still work. Presets saved in Serum 2’s own format (.SerumPreset) won’t open in Serum 1.
- Listen first. A cheap bundle you never open is still money gone. Buy packs with audio demos for every patch, in the genres you actually make.
