What changed since 2024
The biggest change: Serum 2 came out in March 2025 as a free upgrade for every Serum 1 owner. Three oscillators instead of two, five engines including granular and spectral, new FX buses and a built-in sequencer. Every Serum preset pack in this list loads in Serum 2 without any conversion — Serum 2 reads Serum 1 presets natively.

Wide chord synths, foghorn-style basses and airy atmospheres for future bass. These presets lean heavily on macros, so one knob usually takes you from verse energy to drop energy. Was $17.
4. TechnoCraft — Techno Presets for Xfer Serum 2
Rumbling basses, stabby leads and dark atmospheres for peak-time and melodic techno. The basses are already sidechain-friendly: low-cut around 30 Hz, mono below 120 Hz, so they sit in a mix without surgery. Was $17.
5. Melomagic — House Serum 2 Presets Mega Bank
A big, honest house bank: organ bass, pianos, plucks, classic 90s-flavored stabs. If you make anything from deep to piano house, this is the workhorse. Was $17. See Melomagic.

Bouncy basses and short, percussive synths for tech house. These are tuned for the low-end-first arrangement style: bass carries the groove, everything else stays out of the way. Was $17. See TechSonic.

Keys, bells and plucks with a slightly detuned, dusty character for modern hip-hop. Pairs well with a MIDI pack — drop a preset on a chord progression and you have a beat skeleton in minutes. Was $17. See Baroque.

How to shop Black Friday without wasting money
After watching producers buy on our sales for years, here’s what actually works:
- Make a wishlist in October. If a pack wasn’t interesting at full price, a discount doesn’t make it useful. Discounts should confirm decisions, not create them.
- Do the per-sound math. 50 presets for $17 is 34 cents a preset. That’s the number to compare across shops, not the percentage off.
- Check the format first. Serum packs need Serum 2 (or Serum 1), Vital packs need Vital. Sounds obvious, but format mismatch is our most common refund reason.
- Install everything the same week. Unopened sample packs are the gym memberships of music production. If you’re not sure how, here’s how to install Serum 2 presets — it takes about two minutes.
- One genre pack, one utility pack. A genre bank for your main style plus something universal (MIDI, drums, one-shots) beats five impulse buys in genres you’ll never make.
FAQ: Black Friday music production deals
When do Black Friday music production sales start?
Most audio shops now start in mid-November and run through Cyber Monday. Some plugin developers stretch it across the whole month. Our own sale usually goes live about a week before the Friday itself.
Are Black Friday plugin and preset deals actually worth it?
Yes, if you buy from a list you made in advance. Audio discounts on Black Friday are real — 30–70% is normal — because sound products have no per-unit cost. The risk isn’t fake discounts, it’s buying things you won’t use.
Do Serum 1 preset packs work in Serum 2?
Yes. Serum 2 opens Serum 1 presets natively, no conversion needed. Every Serum pack in this list works in Serum 2, and the update itself is free for Serum 1 owners. More detail in our free Serum 2 presets guide.
