Serum 2 landed back in March 2025, and the free preset situation still hasn’t sorted itself out. A lot of what you find is a five-patch “teaser” whose real job is selling you a $40 pack, and almost none of it is sorted by the music you actually make.
So this page is a library: every free Serum 2 preset pack I’ve released, grouped by genre. 35 packs, 790 presets in total. Each pack has its own page with audio demos, so you can hear it before you download. Checkout is $0 and asks only for an email, no card. Everything is royalty-free.
Below: the packs by genre, the sound-type packs that fit any genre, which Serum version each format needs, how to install them, and how to bend a patch until it sounds like you.
One format note before you start
The 34 genre and sound packs on this page are .SerumPreset files, so they need Serum 2. The one exception is the big all-rounder, the 271-patch Producer Starter Collection: it’s .fxp, so it also opens in Serum 1. If you’re still on Serum 1, start there. If you’re on Serum 2, everything below is yours.
House
The biggest group: 11 packs, 171 presets. Basses that groove, chord stabs, plucks and pads tuned for four-to-the-floor.
- House — 15 presets: 4 bass, 4 plucks, 3 leads, 2 chords, 1 keys, 1 pad.
- Deep house — 13 presets: sub-heavy basses, organ-style keys, plucks (4 bass, 3 plucks, 2 keys, 2 synths, 1 chord, 1 pad).
- Tech house — 18 presets: stab basses and percussive hooks (10 synths, 3 drums, 2 plucks, 3 others).
- Bass house — 14 presets: 8 basses and 6 leads for the drop.
- Melodic house — 15 presets: 6 keys, 5 bass, 4 plucks.
- Progressive house — 22 presets, the largest of the small packs, including 8 drum patches, chords and pads for long builds.
- Organic house — 15 presets: woody plucks and keys (5 plucks, 5 keys, 1 pad, 4 others).
- Afro house — 15 presets: log-drum style basses, plucks, pads (5 bass, 3 plucks, 2 drums, 2 pads and more).
- Slap house — 15 presets: 10 slap basses and 5 leads.
- House and techno — 15 presets for tracks between the two: 4 bass, 4 synths, 4 plucks, 3 leads.
- Indie dance — 14 presets: analog-style basses, chorused synths, arps.

- Peak time techno — 15 presets: offbeat basses, leads and stabs (7 synths, 4 leads, 3 bass).
- Hard techno — 15 presets: 6 distorted basses, 4 leads, 3 synths and more.
- Industrial techno — 13 presets: metallic leads and distorted low end (6 leads, 6 bass, 1 drum).
- Progressive techno — 17 presets: 7 leads, 5 pads, 3 bass, 2 plucks.
Trap, hip hop and phonk
3 packs, 47 presets.
- Trap — 15 presets: sliding basses, icy plucks, dark pads (5 leads, 10 others).
- 808s — 17 presets. Clean, round subs up to crushed, distorted hits, tuned and levelled.
- Cowbells — 15 presets. Tuned cowbells for phonk and Latin grooves.
For melodies over a beat, the piano and keys packs in the next section pair well with these.

- Hardstyle — 15 presets: 6 screeching leads, 5 basses, 4 plucks.
Packs by sound, for any genre
When you need one kind of sound rather than a style, these 12 packs (177 presets) go with any of the genres above.
- Bass — 15 presets. Heavy, punchy, house and club weight.
- Leads — 15 presets.

- Arpeggios — 15 presets. Tempo-synced movement without programming it yourself.
- Chords — 15 presets. One key, full stab.

The License: Royalty-Free, No Asterisks
Every sound in every pack here is royalty-free. Commercial releases, client work, sync briefs, streams, beat sales: all fine. Nobody needs a credit, and nobody ever gets a royalty check.
One restriction, the obvious one: repackaging the preset files themselves to sell or give away as a preset pack is off limits. The music you make with them belongs to you, 100%.
How to Install the Packs
- Unzip the download.
- Copy the pack folder into your Serum presets folder. In Serum 2 that’s the User folder in the preset browser.
- Open Serum, go to the preset browser and rescan. The pack shows up as its own folder.
The .SerumPreset packs only show up in Serum 2. If you copied one into a Serum 1 folder, that’s why you can’t see it.

How to Make a Preset Yours
Presets are starting points, not finished records. This is the order I tweak things in, because some moves change far more than others.
- Swap the wavetable first. Leave the envelopes, filter and FX alone and change only the table. Most of the character shifts while all the movement survives.
- Adjust unison and detune. Take unison down to 3 and dial detune in by ear. Thick presets tighten up, and your CPU meter gets a break.
- Change the filter type. The same cutoff sweep sounds very different through each filter model. Two clicks and it’s a new patch.
- Drag in your own audio. Drop a .wav onto an oscillator and Serum turns it into a wavetable. Once a preset runs on your own sample, it’s not really a preset anymore.
- Resample it. Print the patch with its FX, load the result back in as a new source, and process it from scratch.

Are free Serum 2 presets really royalty-free?
Ours are. Whatever track you make is yours, commercial or otherwise, with zero credits and zero fees. The one thing off the table is reselling or redistributing the preset files themselves. Read the license on other packs, though: “free” and “royalty-free” are not the same word.
Do these presets work in Serum 1?
The genre and sound packs on this page are .SerumPreset files, so they need Serum 2. The 271-patch starter collection is .fxp and works in both. If you’re still on Serum 1, the upgrade to Serum 2 is free for existing owners.
Do I have to pay or enter a card?
No. Every pack here is $0. Checkout asks only for an email, so the download link can reach you and stay in your account for re-downloads.
Why do some presets use more CPU than others?
High unison, long reverbs and stacked effects cost more. If a patch spikes, lower the voice count or unison, or freeze the track once the part is written.
What if the free packs aren’t enough?
When you want a complete pack for one genre, the Serum 2 presets catalogue lists every paid pack with demos, and the Serum 2 preset bundles group them by genre.

There’s no catch and no upsell wall. Pick the pack closest to what you’re making this week, load it, and pull three patches apart to see how they’re built. If one of them buys you back a night of sound design, it’s done its job.
